How LED Signs Work 

Complex integrated electronic circuits and software send pulsating electronic signals to each LED and when activated they illuminate the individual LED (light emitting diode) lamp.  Each LED lamp (pixel) is built up in a matrix, thus making up the length and height of the illuminated LED Display.

The resolution of the display is determined by how many pixels are in the matrix.  When the sign is programmed and turned on, each pixel can illuminate independently and appear to 'glide' along the sign board panel.  In reality, it is a case of each pixel (LED lamp) being charged with electricity in an on-off fashion.

For example, if pixel A sits next to pixel B and is alternatively turned on-off it would appear as if the dot moves.  This is the basis how our scrolling message signs work. The picture to the right shows how a LED pixel glows. 

Multicolour LED display (Red and Green LEDs) colours works like this:

Red 100% = Illuminated Red Lamp

Red 70% + Green 70% = Illuminated orange/amber blend

Red 50% + Green 50% = Illuminated yellow blend

Green 100%= Illuminated Green Lamp

For full colour we have a third LED per pixel (Red, Green, Blue)

Red 100% + Green 100% + Blue 100% = Illuminated white blend

Note: the pulsating effect shown is for demonstration purposes only. Actual LEDs are either on or off as required and simply have solid vibrant colours.
