What is an LED?

The techie explanation is that an LED or light-emitting diode, is a two leaded semiconductor light source. It is a pn-junction diode, which emits light when a voltage is applied across it. However, for the purpose of our signs, think of them as little coloured light bulbs, but ones with an extraordinary long life, with bright vibrant colours, and much less delicate than a traditional glass light bulb and you wont go far wrong.
